“DeSales was a holy man who always made good decisions and did what was right. Brother devoted himself to serving others and God. For decades he was a permanent presence in church and parish events, and he would spend countless hours working in church to make sure that everything was just right.”
“In his younger years, he was a fierce competitor who enjoyed competing with young parishioners in pickup baseball, football, and basketball games at the nearby recreation center and athletic fields. He also enjoyed swimming, ice skating, and playing tennis.
When I last visited Br.DeSales a few months ago in Stella Maris, he reminded me that he would routinely defeat me in tennis when I was in high school and college. Even with his failing memory towards the end of his life, he held many happy and lasting memories of the times he spent playing ball with the youth of the parish.” (Richard Brown)
“Brother ‘D’ did the Friday night weekly bingo for many years. He took care of the church. He had the Ladies Altar Society to help him clean the church. He got the church ready for all the services especially Easter, Christmas, and funerals. He took care of ordering and taking care of the flowers for church. He loved being at OLF.” (Joan Karolkowski)
