Fr. Maurice Nutt, C.Ss.R. of Denver Province is one of the mentors and editors of a new book in the works for Orbis Books: Preaching About Racism: Challenge and Journey.
Fr. Maurice and a few of the 15 scholars and preachers who are contributing to the book – Fr. Peter Hill, C.Ss.R. of the Baltimore Province, Dr. Valerie Lewis Mosley, Rev. Manuel Williams, C.R., and Rev. Dr. Deitra Wise Baker – met at the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis last week for a writers’ retreat.
The new book promises to be a useful and thought-provoking work intended to further the conversation about, and the practice of, preaching about race, with a specific emphasis on Catholic preaching. Expected to be published in 2023, the work is supported by the Lilly Endowment Initiative to strengthen Christian preaching and the Aquinas Institute of Theology.
